In response to Jesus' command to “go and teach all nations”, the Christian formation Committee's Goal is to foster and promote a Christian education for all members of the parish community, to provide opportunities for worship and prayer and to develop a strong Christian community and one of service to others.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Preschool through Eight grade:
Preschool for 3 and 4 year-olds on Sunday during the 10:00 A.M. Mass.
Kindergarten through Grade 6 from 4:45 to 6:00 P.M. on Monday or Tuesday
Grades 7 and 8 on Monday 6:30 to 7:30 P.M
F.I.R.E. (Family Intergenerational Religious Education) on Sunday after the 10:00 A.M. liturgy to 12:00 Noon. This is an alternative family model of Religious Education covering the main truths of our faith in a 4-year cycle.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
Baptism:
Preparation classes are held on the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30 P.M. Information and registration is available from Sr. Ann Hughes, SSJ Pastoral Associate 302-475-6486 extension 120.
First Reconciliation and Eucharist:
After two consecutive years of Religious Education, children in Second Grade or above may receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Preparation includes parish sessions for parents and children. Special arrangements are made for children above the 2nd grade. Information and registration is available through the Religious Education Office 302-475-6486 extensions 121 or 122.
Confirmation:
After at least two consecutive years of Religious Education, students in 8th Grade may receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Special arrangements are made for children above the 8th grade. Information and registration is available through the Religious Education Office 302-475-6486 extensions 121 or 122.
ADULT EDUCATION
Programs are held at various times during the year to assist individuals in deepening their faith lives. These opportunities include guest speakers on prayer, the Sacraments, family enrichment and spiritual or faith development topics as requested by parishioners. MOMS' GROUP
A group of stay-at-home mothers who meet every Wednesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. in the Parish Activities Center for prayer, discussion, friendship and support. Babysitting provided. For more information contact the Religious Education Office at 302-475-6486 extensions 121 or 122.
R.C.I.A PROGRAM
RCIA is a year long process which leads an adult person toward Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation or full communion with the Catholic Church. The R.C.I.A. team consists of parishioners who have made a commitment to accompany catechumens and candidates on their faith journey towards entry into the Catholic Church. Interested individuals seeking to enter the Church or individuals interested in serving on a team of individuals should contact Deacon Joe Cilia at 302-475-6486 extension 4.
SCRIPTURE STUDY
Weekly (September through June) groups of parishioners, led by trained facilitators, meet on Tuesday mornings 9:45 A.M. to 11:30 A.M or on Tuesday evenings 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M to study the scriptures. The Little Rock Scripture Study series is used. This is a process of reflection and discussion is open to all interested in deepening their understanding of the Scriptures.
