Deacon Bill was born in Wilmington and raised in the New Castle area. Ordained a permanent deacon for the Diocese of Wilmington in November, 2000, he is currently assigned to the Church of the Holy Child. Deacon Bill is also an advocate for the Tribunal of the diocese, assisting people in filing annulments to resolve the status of marriages that have ended in divorce. His additional positions in the diocese have been pontifical deacon and one of the masters of ceremonies for the bishop.
Deacon Bill retired from St. Mark’s High School in June, 2018, after teaching for thirty-eight years. During his time at the school he taught theology as well as US history for two years and French 1 for two years. For twenty-three years Deacon Bill served as the chair of the theology department.
Deacon Bill is a graduate of Salesianum School. He did his undergraduate studies at DeSales University and Brisson Seminary in Center Valley (Allentown), PA; graduate studies were completed at St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia.
In the area of experience in EMS, Deacon Bill has completed EMT, EVO, and vehicle rescue at the Delaware State Fire; he was a member of the first NREMT-B class held at St. Francis Hospital. Currently he holds EMR certification completing the course at Fire School . Deacon Bill served on the Red Cross Disaster Team as Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, and Chief; and, he served as a volunteer EMT in the St. Francis emergency department for twelve years.
Deacon Bill is married to Mary Johnston. They are the human parents to three rabbits, who believe they own the house.
